When I try to export with the map2diff_plus_tse.exe I get an error "The Map file must have a MAP extension". Main.cpp Fatal-ISV. The tge converter worked fine.Edit: NM it works fine manually with the tse converter. Thx.

It might be that map2dif is getting a filename without the .map extension. I will add a check for that in the plugin.

It says that it can Load .dts, or .3DS meshes. Does this mean I can make walls, floor, etc in World Studio and then make a more complicated object, like a lamp, in 3ds Max and then import it into World Studio before exporting to Torque? If I do, when I export to .dif, are there performance issues with doing such a thing?

OK...very ignorant question here...It says that it can Load .dts, or .3DS meshes. Does this mean I can make walls, floor, etc in World Studio and then make a more complicated object, like a lamp, in 3ds Max and then import it into World Studio before exporting to Torque? If I do, when I export to .dif, are there performance issues with doing such a thing?

Please check the features list for a snapshot of the current state of development. .dts import is not yet implemented.

Joshua (Halo) is either a designer himself, or understands them very well. The simplicity and flexibility of the interface design and content creation tools puts the convoluted, cluttered mess of other programs' interfaces I have fought with (QuARK) to shame. I was creating stuff within minutes of first opening CS4. It took me many tries and much aggravation trying to accomplish even the simplest task with QuARk.. which is what ultimately led to me finding CS4 in the first place.
I'd been following the progress of WS between leadwerks and thegamecreators sites. The images of his works-in-progress showed that he is really going for a powerful-yet-elegant program. When ever he gets full compatibility with Torque and/or TSE - as in "build in WS, run in Torque", it could well replace the in-engine editor almost completely.
So.. I for one cannot wait to start playing with WS and see what new goodness it brings :-)

Haven't had the chance to play around with WS too much yet (just recently got internet access back at my house - thank you, Wilma) but I'll give a testimonial - by way of assumption - to CS4 that I'm confident will hold true with WS:Joshua (Halo) is either a designer himself, or understands them very well. There will be some previews of the included content later on. Most of the people who bought the CD saw the textures we had on our site before, that are packaged with it.Quote:It says that it can Load .dts, or .3DS meshes. Is Quark capable of doing what 3DWS does or am I dreaming?
I've only map a crypt and some tutorial maps in Quark - it seems competant but everyone seems to of the impression it's obsolete or too old.

WOW! Now someone convince me why I should buy this and not struggle along with the perfectly free Quark? Is Quark capable of doing what 3DWS does or am I dreaming?

The best thing that I can say is to download the demo and try it yourself. If your workflow is significantly improved, then you can determine whether it is worth it to you.

There's little reason for you not to use QuArK if you're used to it. One of the best things about 3DWS over QuArK is that it has a streamlined interface that is much easier to learn to use and quicker to navigate. People often have a horrible time learning to get around in QuArK.The best thing that I can say is to download the demo and try it yourself. Is there a better way?
11/22/2005 (3:07 pm)
The biggest issue I have with Quark is scene organisation. Is there a skin plugin or patch that over comes this? I just have to laboriously set up my heirarchy to be able to create anything more complex that a 2 chambered room. If this is what everyone else does then fine - I dont mind. Here's a snap of my heirarchy. Is there a better way?

Hey ... is there any news or an on Constructor yet? Is there a feature list that I can compare to 3D World? I would like to keep my money feeding the GG programmers if possible :) I have been playing with 3D World and it looks great.
