However, I should make it clear that .dts and terrain are not yet implemented. .dif export will work right now, right out of the box.

The DTS will give you ability to have movement? Like a windmill etc??

There's not really any reason to display animation in the editor. It's not worth slowing down the editing, just to display an effect that will show up in Torque, anyways.

If you are asking if the editor will display .dts animations, no it will not. It will load .dts meshes, place them in the scene, and export a .mis file listing them. If they are animated, they will move when Torque loads the meshes for the .mis file. There's not really any reason to display animation in the editor. I do have a question for Josh though, Will there be any upgrade options for someone who bought the standard edition 3DWS to the builder edition? I didn't know the statics were including tree models and such and now it seems like a better deal.

3dws is a great program and Josh always has done well in supporting his product. The codebase on cshop4 was so out of wack for where he wanted to go that he re-wrote pretty much the entire product addressing any of the issues people had with cshop (extrusion of non square brushes) I have yet to find a real bug in the software and it is quite production ready for everyones projects.I do have a question for Josh though, Will there be any upgrade options for someone who bought the standard edition 3DWS to the builder edition? I think most of the orders for the CD version came from people who had seen some of the textures and things we used to have on our site, and have a better idea of what to expect.

David, I actually thought I would send out an email when the CD is mastered, and give existing users the option to upgrade to the CD version. I have most of the media done, but don't have time to make previews.I think most of the orders for the CD version came from people who had seen some of the textures and things we used to have on our site, and have a better idea of what to expect.

I have concerns about the terrain actually functioning in TGE/TSE, but if it does indeed work, I'll be VERY excited.

Very easy to use but is there any type of tutorial (or a wiki) for use of all the buttons?
I know it was said you can not make terrain (yet) But could you make a mountain? How do you import textures? This is such a great tool but unfortunately it just raises more questions :)

David, the user guide is located here. I only recently wrote it, and a few pages still have to be done:

What about Constuctor I heard its better than 3d world studio.

Seeing that "halo" is the creator of 3D world studio let's not compare the two. Constructor isn't even out yet so it is unfair for either product to say which is better.

Should I hold out for Constructor or buy 3d world studio. Do I buy the Builder edition or the standard.

Halo, thats tight. I've been following the terrain closely, and cant wait to see how it turns out in the T*E engines.

If something apper in the future and its good, buy it.
I used to work with a different engine before and it was to much.. this will come later etc... but it never happend.

Will this work with the TSE map2diff?
#60
It calls map2diff as a external program with whatever options you want to put in, if you purchase 3dws or take a look at the docs you can see how it calls it. You export the file to the .map standard then it gives you the option to run the map through map2diff so yes it will work. However I don't have TSE so I can't tell if all the options it has are in 3dws at the moment.
