I think he was clearly pointing out that he supports casual gaming and thats why he dislikes OpenGL. I'd have to agree, the issues that force people to update drivers to support OpenGL really cause a rift that can kill a casual game.

OpenGL ES is basically GL 2.0 , check out the khronos group.

casual games don't need opengl drivers updates, i still have to see a casual game that needs shaders or any fancy stuff that needs drivers updates, even tge doesn't need drivers updates.
On the other hand, i installed today the F.E.A.R demo, and i had to update my DX... :P

I think Pat is insane too..
ROFLMAO...
DirectX is junk.
its always been the backwards brother of OpenGL, modeled after gl and sure continously worked on.
cause it was necessary. CAUSE ITS BEEN BROKEN
Im still not seeing the light years ahead it Should be with all the money invested..
as far as development goes?
all you guys talk about the wizbang features..
but seem to forget you can write games without them.
Plus I dont care if they dont have OpenGL ready to go.
this next OS Is Crap..
I know my company wont rush out to install it into either our work environment or our installed base.
who cares?
not me.
Havent update the graphics drivers on my system since I installed it.
why? cause I dont care.

I have a little dx experience. in my opinion, it's really not that hard to use. setting it up in the first place is somewhat tedious, but once youve set up your application, its no harder to program than opengl imo. d3d rendering is definitely faster (especially in software) and anyone who disagrees is deluding themself.

the subjects don't really match. What does console.log say when TGE crashes?

Pat as an employee you are forced to hold you to a higher standard that looks different from " FUCK OPENGL" >.<. Give us a Pro, A Con... Because I gurantee you I just may have to take your little resume and trash it when I take your spot at GG ;-) *Not to offend You or anything*
Just e-mail me if you have things to say Pat, I rather not flame here :-)

I'm very surprised by you Pat, do you always cuss? Look neither OpenGL NOR DirectX Suck, they are both pretty good stuff. Pat Wilson, can you create some sort of library for graphics? If not then shush. Look I am a fan of OpenGL because it's OPEN. It's not owned by anyone. I do not hate DirectX because I love the games it helps produce such as Civilizations and such.Pat as an employee you are forced to hold you to a higher standard that looks different from " FUCK OPENGL" >.<. Get used to it dude... everyone here including GG staff are EXPECTED to
think out of the box.. it's not a 1983 IBM board meeting in Chicago wearing 3 piece suits..
Loosen up...
BTW OpenGL does suck... (well it doesn't but just saying.. I.D. software was so wrong with DX).
