I need someone to invent a 30 hour day, but still fit in in the current time structure :)

Every free hour that I'm not working my full-time job, doing family stuff around the house, sleeping or alpha-testing Minions of Mirth... in other words about 3 hours a week :(I need someone to invent a 30 hour day, but still fit in in the current time structure :)

As for how much I work; None on personal projects at the moment but this varies quite a lot too depending on my workload. As a rough estimate (it may be more, I don't really know) I'd say I spend some 4000-something hours a year working though (not all of them billable however, what a bummer. =)

30 hour days rock... That's actually quite close to my rhythm (even though it varies a bit from day to day).As for how much I work; None on personal projects at the moment but this varies quite a lot too depending on my workload. Unemployed at the minute, so I should be doing more than I actually am.

Early development stages:
8-15 hours a week. 2-3 hours a night, three nights a week, plus 3-5 hours on weekends.
Mid Development:
12-25 hours a week: 3+ nights a week, for 4 hours each. Plus 4-8 hours on weekends.
Late Development:
25-40 hours a week (yes, 40 hours on top of a "technically" 40 hr/ week job): What's sleep? I come home from work, spend an hour with the family, then I'm off to my "other" job from 7 or 8 PM until 1 or 2 in the morning (sometimes later). Mondays and Fridays I have other obligations, so I may not get any development done, but I can often squeeze in an hour or three. I try to get 8-12 hours of work done on the weekend (but family & friend obligations take priority).

Making games is strictly a part-time venture for me, and it has to fit itself into my priority list along with family, church, etc. Oh, and doing a little bit of game PLAYING, too.Early development stages:

It really does vary, but I'd say I'm hacking away at my project at an average of 5 hours a day, 7 days a week. Oftentimes it's 14 hours straight and once in a while, it's none at all. Even if you are really focused, I think the body and brain naturally need rest from time to time.
Also, practicing Martial arts helps tremendously with every aspect of life, especially focus and energy.
Plus, it makes you good at Street Fighter...not...

2 hours per day 5 days a week 50 weeks a year.
Some weeks are more some are less. Some days we don't work on it at all because of what is going on in our life some days we get 8 or 10 hours in. We both have wives, children and day jobs.

My partner and I started with a much higher average...but ater 2+ years of working on this game we have settled down into this basic pattern:2 hours per day 5 days a week 50 weeks a year.

I feel like I should get frequent flyer miles...or maybe a cookie or something? ;)

At the moment, I find myself working on Torque about 95% of my normal workweek at Large Animal, although that increases when we have deadline sprints (basically mini-crunches). Oddly enough, I find myself working another 10-20 hours on my Torque side project with Creo Ludus Entertainment.I feel like I should get frequent flyer miles...or maybe a cookie or something? ;)

Once I get a foundation under my feet to stand on my projects will see probably twice that (and less game playing).

Im learning, so the process of learning counting then about two hours a day for about two weeks now.Once I get a foundation under my feet to stand on my projects will see probably twice that (and less game playing).

I'm now broke, and going back to full-time work, so my time working on my game is going to be about 12-16 hours a week.

I just took 4 months off real work to get my development up and running. I've been working about 30 hours a week for the last 2 months, most of it learning how to use TGE well enough to do what I want with it, and the rest of my time on the game design.I'm now broke, and going back to full-time work, so my time working on my game is going to be about 12-16 hours a week.

Especially with these damn forums. It's mixed blessing. I've learned so much from fellow Torque developers, but really an hour here and there spent in the forums really eats into the time long term ;-) Good thing I rarely get on IRC. Someone should write an IRC bot that announces "Back to working on your game now... there is nothing to see here... move along"
I recently have succeeded to "right size" my day job, getting out of a management position and into a more low-stress predictable position. Also decided to change my 1st Torque project from an overly ambitious FPS/arcade style game to a software toy/puzzle game that will be a lot simpler to develop and release.

Probably 15 hours/week. But that includes learning Softimage XSI and taking keyboard/music lessons also. Never enough hours spent. Especially with these damn forums. It's mixed blessing. I probably spend 60 - 70 hours / week working at MVP Online, but this is my full-time job.

If I'm lucky? 2-3 hours a week. If I'm not (curse you BF2!), zero.

About 12 a day.

up to 20 hours a day, or zero, depends on my drive and mood. That is the cool part of not working for a company, or maybe not so cool.

We're lucky enough that we do this full time. So at least 40 hours a week.
