Radeon 9250 Sufficient for Now?

Hello, right now I have a good gaming rig, but I wanted to use my desktop pc, just because this is where I have all my programs and files and what not, but soon Im going to build another nice gaming rig, but im just wondering if a Radeon 9250 would work for now? It should run just basics, no really nice graphics or nothing, but If I want to fool around with that stuff, I can use my other pc for now. Im just wondering if the engine will kick the card out, it kicks my integrated out right now on the demo, but I dont think it supports software rendering, so I was going to buy a cheap card for temporary, then buy the engine. Im probably going to just get the 128 mb version, because it will probably just sit in the corner in a little while. It has directx 8.1, but I can run directx 9.0c, but just wont get all the goodies I think. Can anyone help me out on this one? Thanks in advanced, Jared.

It really, really is worth it to pop the extra $40 for a 9600 Pro. Huge leap in performance and gives you a *lot* more headroom to grow as a developer (pixel shaders 2.0 = teh good).

TGE will run great on a 9250...TSE will probably run a bit on the slow side when you start to push it.

Thanks for the reply, but as I said, it is only temporary, I do run other engines, and programs like 3ds max 7 on my integrated, but I just wanted something to do for a little while, Im probably going to build a SLI rig, with 2x 6600s or 6800s for a gaming and development pc, and If I want to fool around with shaders, then I can use my gaming rig, but the card will probably just sit in the corner anyways... ;)

No it's not good. Do whatever it takes to get a better card..
Your talking about doing some high end work not like just typing a term paper. Don't even waste a dollar on that card.
