Torque Freezing in demo mission

by Brett Stadelmann · in Hardware Issues · 05/26/2005 (8:22 am) · 6 replies

After the demo level loads I can move my mouse around and look at the world but when I push a key to move in any direction my framerate drops to about 1 every 10 seconds, basically freezing the game. This problem also occurs with a completely unedited build of the demo. Anyone have any ideas?

Try switching from D3D to OpenGL or from OpenGl to D3D... That fixed it for one of my systems that had the same issue.

Thanks that fixed it, although now i'm in d3d i have to run torque in full screen mode otherwise it's very choppy, do you find that as well?

No. I've never seen that problem. Mind you, I always run in full screen mode.

I've had that problem, and for me setting my desktop bit depth from 32 to 16 works.

If your CPU is old or slow and Torque is not in fullscreen, then the CPU taking turns between the desktop and torque may cause it to be choppy.

We have fire and trees we made in 3ds and imported to torque. once our car gets to these things though the entire mission freezes up and we cannot play it like a game anymore. please help. Ive changed the OpenGL to D3d and back agin and have lowered the resolution rate.
