The editors of GameSpot have one thing in common: We've all been playing games for as long as we can remember. Over the years, we've each played some truly incredible games that have left a permanent impression on us, helping set the very high expectations for quality that we and our users alike have come to hold for today's games. As time has gone by, games have changed dramatically in every way--games from the 1980s aren't directly comparable to more-modern games, for example. Nevertheless, we can think of numerous remarkable games from every era of this still-young industry.
This much is certain: We have strong views on what we believe to be the greatest games ever made. These are all uniquely different games, on a variety of different platforms, released at completely different times. We hold them in equally high regard--they're the absolute best of the best, each one a genuine classic that can still be appreciated today or whenever. And here, in GameSpot's weekly Greatest Games of All Time feature, we will present them to you, letting you know what was so great about these games to begin with and shedding some new light on them at the same time.

Quote:Communication is key during team-based matches, and much of the gameplay is enhanced by a series of interactive voice-bound key controls. Hitting the 'V' key during play brings up a series of menus revealing useful phrases and commands on-the-fly. For example, pressing V-N-R shouts out "I need a ride" while punching V-G-S cries out the familiar verbiage of Tribes frustration, "Shazbot!" These commands effectively encourage communication during gameplay -- a challenge faced in most team-based Internet titles. Those with a microphone can also attempt real verbal communication, or people can choose to type out team and global messages the old fashioned way.- Adrenaline Vault

Just read the article for kicks and I gotta say, as much as they think they loved it, and as good as they think it is/was, multiply that by a 1000 and your getting closer to the Tribes experience. I'll bet good money those guys never saw guys like me or JoeCool, or {LGS}B|00D skillfully maneuver a jugg with nukes to 300 feet above the flag in Canyon Crusade WITHOUT help from a vehicle. Seeing a Shifter scout in the hands of an expert is somthing that is beyond description. You haven't lived until 15 pissed of people start spamming you with...%&^%#%^ YOU FUC&*NG PIECE OF SH*T CLOWN!!! GIVE US BACK OUR #%&^%#@ BASE!!!!!!

Yeah that was PC Gamer. I've gotten pretty tired of reading that magazine and doubt I will renew for another year. I generally don't agree with most of their reviews and I'm getting tired of them beating me over the head with mentions of World of Warcraft every few pages.

Quote:I couldn't believe last months PC Gamer or was it CGW had a top 50 and Tribes wasn't even mentioned. Shame on them.
