Aircraft/equipment sound pack

by Nate "Nateholio" Watson · in General Discussion · 03/09/2005 (11:04 pm) · 6 replies

While on alert last week I was standing out on the flight line smoking a bowl of tasty (and cheap) cherry cavendish tobacco and watching all the activity around the place. The thought hit me like an 800,000 pound 747 that I could record all kinds of useful sounds at work and on alert.

Would anyone be interested in a sound pack that includes things such as aircraft engines, equipment hums, large ground equipment engine noise, transmitter hums, industrial hvac sounds, etc? Any suggestions for noises?

@SZepp: lol, it can easily be arranged - the main thing they dont like is video/photo equipment

Hehe..knowing where you work, and what types of MP's are around, I'd be very careful taking recording equipment on the flight line...I've seen folks tackled for much less!

Does sound like a really cool idea though--maybe you can get a clearance for it somehow...

This would probably be quite cool, since I'm sure something like this would be useful for more than just plane-related environments. A good sound guy can make great use of just about anything, and the more interesting the sounds, the better. See if you can get a buddy to buzz the tower and get some recordings of that. :)

Gotta agree. That'd be an incredible sound pack. Just make sure you don't get in trouble in the process.

I agree too, the game I'm working on will soon need aircraft sounds and I could defiantly use something like this. But there is no point getting into trouble for it like Theo Brinkman and Stephen Zepp said

Well this week I may be able to get some jet sounds (other than 707 & 747). I also found a perfect place to get all kinds of wierd ambient machinery sounds, but that will have to wait. I also need jet/machinery sounds so Ill definately be getting them as I have chances to.

Nate,

Hey, I'd be very interested in sounds of this nature--been looking for these types of noises for a month so far =)
