I've read through the first tutorial and I can't believe how simple it looks to get things going. I've been working on my own game engine since December but when I heard about Torque 2D and everything it offered, I had to step back and say... "wait. build my own or reuse? Build my own occurs at the rate of at most 5 hrs/week, vs. several developers and testers working on this thing for 18 month? Reuse!"
Oh yeah, and while I appreciate the low $80 price point I would have easily paid double without flinching. There's so much value here that anyone that values their time would say, jee... $80 means if the engine saves me 2 - 3 hours of my time, it was worth it. You guys just saved me a year. Thanks for giving me a year of my life back!

Congrats Melv, Josh, and GG, this is a huge accomplishment! Also, thanks for shipping so I can stop hitting refresh every minute on your main pages! :-) I was actually a little worried about our collective bandwidth usage waiting for the news.I've read through the first tutorial and I can't believe how simple it looks to get things going. I do have T2D, but I am going to very carefully not answer questions that are T2D specific without doing serious research on the topic in the code. I will however be monitoring the forum as much as I can, and try to help with the more general questions so that Josh and Melv can focus on the "high T2D tech" ones.
This may work out well--but it may not, we'll see!

I'm actually not a T2D developer! I am here however to at least try to assist Melv and Josh (and everyone else!) with questions that may not actually be tied directly to T2D, such as the datablock one that was asked recently.I do have T2D, but I am going to very carefully not answer questions that are T2D specific without doing serious research on the topic in the code. Greg: Ditto. I haven't loaded WoW in the last 3 or 4 days in anticipation of this. I haven't got to dork around with Torque2D very much due to other weekend commitments, but damn it looks nifty.

What a great 2D development tool. I am hugely impressed, and can't wait to get cracking on something!
Well done to all involved. This is truly outstanding!
