Torque for realtime sim??

I have been looking at different engines for creating 3d realtime simulations for things like architectural walkthroughs, and construction projects.
The main reason that I'm looking at game engines is that I want to get better quality graphics than is currently possible with the programs that I am currently using (Multigen Paradigm).
Would Torque be a good solution? How much programming would be involved in setting up a walk/drive through type of scenario?
I have a lot of experience in doing reatime sims, but not much experience with game engines.
Thanks for any feedback.
