Dedicated server on same network.

I have a question. It may seem like a stupid question. Is a dedicated server on the same network I connect as a client on, simulate online play.?IE. Would this be a legitimate way to test if stuff is sent between server and client?

I think so, yeah. We have been testing our game that way since a year back and it has not failed yet.

Thanks Stefan. It seems logical but I just wanted to know for sure. The dedicated server is sending heartbeats to the Master Server and I connect to the dedicated server and everything works as expected. I realize that it isn't a good lag simulation. At this point that is not my focus.
