Thinktanks mod

by Bryce · in ThinkTanks · 11/17/2004 (2:04 pm) · 20 replies

Im thinktanking aout making a more realistic mod of thinktanks, which features 3rd preson and 1st person perspective gameplay. It has rain, water, and ufos can fly like airplanes. this sound pretty resonable, doesnt it?

Reasonable? That would require a lot of scripting, unless you're talking about suspension rate for UFO's and emitters for the rain, and textures for the water...seems like a cool idea in retrospect, but you'd have to be a good coder.

You might be interested in the BraveTree Tank Pack.

I prefer the editable cartoon figures. The game is kind of like a throw back to my days of growing up with Atari 2600 and NES. Those were simpler times. There's certain nostalgia to it that you wouldn't want to lose by making it too high tech.

Think Tank is a classic. I'd say keep it the way it is. You have a good idea, but I think it should be for a completely different game that has a similar structure to Think Tanks.

@Matt, cool Tank Pack...

Only thing I would recommend changing to TT's would be adding moderators for the online game to keep people in line and minimize verbal abuse / terrorism.

Also, I think it would be a good idea to create a live chartroom in the "online" screen. Similar to Orbz lobby... when people are not in a server playing, they can be in the lobby chatting.

I meant that i was going to make a game, not a mod. It isn't going to be very hard. I can always model my own thinktnaks, right? The ufos will simply be flying vehicles.

Ok, now you've got me.

But then why is the title of this Thintanks mod?!?!? XO

Sounds good. One of the biggest problems we have with Think Tanks is that there is no way to monitor or police poeples behavior online. At least not in the public servers. Maybe they'll find a solution to that problem in the next version.

I'm curious to see how your game turns out. Please keep us posted...

Thanks

Not as easy as that. all TT tanks need
1. Smoke emittiers
2. wepon hardpoints.

good luck though!

I am going to keep the orginal tank models. Ive just always wanted to see what it's like as a brain inside a jar driving around in first person view.

Sounds like an awesome idea to moi. I would like to see the finished product, although I expect it will be a LONG time before it comes out, but I am very interestd. Good luck!

Haha anti tank rail guns on ufos

Large ufos have bombs!
the scrum ball shoots lasers at campers as they approach!
RPG powerup (tom)
brains come down in parachutes!
sniper scope powerup (press e and be able to use a scope)
interiors (brain ejection may be an issue inside)
infantry can dismount from heavy tanks (little men with mp5s that you can control if you like)

Can you spell "copyright"? ;D

Also, this would require MAJOR coding, not even sure if -z- could do it

Also, some of these ideas are ridiculous, (no offense to the ppl who thought em up). infantry? Brains coming down? *ugh*

Actually, this would require basic scripting. You would, however, need the source.cs files to do most of this.
