What to use for a target?

Hey, im making the training part for are FPS shooter game, anyway I was wondring what would be the best for a target? like somthing that doesnt move and u can shoot and hit with the projectiles, oh and there needs to be a way to check when a projectile hits it(so it well take damage/delete) what would be the best for this? like Static shape or what?
and what would the function be that gets called when it is hit? thanks in advanced

You should try a straw dummy staticshape with an animation that has straw peices flying, and maybe put some straw shaped particle emiters and have them activate when damaged.
