Other genres?

Obviously Torque performs admirably in the first person shooter genre, but how well would it be suited for others? I am considering a space combat sim, and I'd love to use Torque for it but would it really be best?
As opposed to the Freespace engine, I guess - I think they released that to the public domain....
I'd rather use Torque - nothing like good support!

Torque is certainly suited quite nicely for an FPS, but if your willing to get your hands dirty than you can really use it for any game. It offers a great starting point for just about any type of game. Naturally some genres are gonna be easier to meld Torque into than others, but really it's just an engine. Meant to be toiled with and bent to your inevitable will. I did some research on game engines before finally settling on Torque. The support is naturally hands down to most anything else. The community is here and willing to help. TORQUE TORQUE TORQUE! ok...i'm done.

Very good. About what I expected. Actually, I was thinking that with a little tinkering I could even do station, spaceport and ship interiors easier with Torque. All of that seems like it would be tons of work to do in Freespace (which I also think is non-commmercial only, now that you mention it).Rich

Phil was working on a space combat game in Torque, but I think it's now just going to be a dev pack for Torque.
