Introduction and Torque Distribution System Question

Hello all

I've been a member for a while now and have owned the engine since 2002. However time constraints really hindered me working with the engine as much as I would have liked. However over the last year I've been getting familar with the engine and reading the forums here and resources and now I'm confident to say I'm actually ready to start working on a game. And I would like to say thanks to everyone here in the community for all the resources and to the GG staff for all their support as well.

Now on with my question. I've heard people talk about the Torque Distribution System. Is this for everyone or just those GG picks up for publishing? If its for everyone how do you use? Any documentation or resources?

Thanks again guys. I look forward to becoming more active in the community.

Next task... messing around with the TSE :)

Chip

There is no "Torque Distribution System" that I am aware of. We use CVS to let people access the Torque source. Publishing is done pretty much the same way for all games - if a publisher signs a deal with you, they will help you sell and distribute your game. GG happens to be a publisher.

Hope that clear things up a bit... if not, feel free to ask further questions. :)

Ok that does clear up a few things. I guess I misread the forum post. I'll try to find the forum post I was reading and post the link but I also seen one regarding compiling your scripts into .dso for distribution. How is that performed or have I looked over it in the documentation? Here is the link that mentioned the Torque distribution system, as I said I may have misread it:

Thanks Ben. :)

I think they're talking about the e-commerce system we have on our site. There is nothing we here at GG refer to as "the Torque distribution system." I think Frank was a little confused. :)

Hi Ben. I think I was talking to you on the phone the other day, and didn't realize it was you! Sorry...

Heheh. Hi Ken. Yeah, I tend to be anonymous on the phone. Some poor guy called a while back and I told him that if he had questions, he could e-mail Ben Garney, one of our coders, and Ben could answer his questions...

Thanks for your help Ben and I apologize for the confusion :) Ken... Thank you for such a wonderful book. I've read it roughly 3 times now. It helped me out so much. Thank you for taking the time to write it.
