Hmm.. Interesting. I must have had extremely good (lucky) timing, then.

I ordered mine on the 12th, received no email about a delay. I also was supposed to receive the book tomorrow (17th) but received it on Saturday.. 2 days ahead of schedule.

My first thought upon receiving it: Wow.. that's a big book! :-)

Upon skimming through it, man.. now I see why so many people are psyched about this book. I don't think I've ever seen so much information so thorougly presented in one place. Excellent work!

Can't wait to "dig in" to it more :-)

So far the content is really solid. But as with many of the books from that publisher, the editing is atrocious. Hopefully later editions will take care of that.

After reading all of the posts about this book, walked into a Barnes & Noble's and picked one up. Outstanding book !!! Great content from A to Z for Torque. Couldn't put it down.

I've heard about this book before and I'm considering purchasing it. But still have some questions :

How does it explains Torque ? Is it in the Tutorial-example like the codesampler tutorials i.e. "Place this and that in your superbomb.cs file and it should work" or is it well explained i.e. "This command tells the superbomb to do this and that. the first parameter is....".

How far from the online documentation it goes ?

The book is very detailed. You'll be sitting at your computer with the Torque console open typing things line by line as the book explains what's happening and why.

If it has a fault (in terms of content) it's that more experienced programmers will find the pace to be pretty slow. IMHO, it's better to over-explain than under-explain, so I don't see it as a real problem.

I haven't had much time with it yet, but so far I'm impressed.

Anyone waiting for it in the UK should not waste their time with WHSmith and order it from amazon.com. WHS don't even have a real estimate availablity date yet.

Took 4 days to get mine, and I must say i'm enjoying it so far :) Probably cost less than the UK price as well (since of the weak dollar atm).

Got Mine. Went to the local Barnes and Noble here in Miami cuz I couldn't wait and paid the full price of $50. Was it worth it? Well, let's just say I have been smiling happily since I finished it, and am overwhelmed with game ideas. So many questions answered in one book. Now I'm going back through it again S L O W L Y, cuz there is so much to digest and master. Simply outstanding! A must read if you are new to The Torque Engine. Wish I had had it months ago when I first purchased the engine.
