Kevin,

There are some wierd issues with the latest drivers that have been reported across a few different games.

Asheron's Call 2 is showing it by polygons completely disappearing after a while of playing and/or flashing different colors. Other times, HUD elements, or player names are flickering. Turbine has indicated that they have replicated the problem on their systems and that it's a driver-related issue.

A friend of mine has experienced the same thing while playing Unreal Tournament 2004.

The common thread in these cases is that everyone experiencing it has a FX-line NVidia card.

I've rolled back to an earlier build (a couple releases back - don't remember the date off-hand) and the issues don't seem to be coming up anymore.

I have a GeForce 4 Ti4800.. and also noticed patches of colour on my interiors with the 56.72 drivers.

I found that changing my graphic settings from Performance to Quality made the patches of colour go away - not an ideal solution.. but at least I can take screenshots again :)

Not to be a spoiler but I'm using the 56.72 drivers with an FX-5200 and to be perfectly honest Torque has never performed better.

Try changing to more aggressive performance settings in your configuration.

The performence with 56.72 is good, but there are some misxed issue.
I've got among other things problems with fogging. (The fog works with 53.xx but then the performence sucks instead). I'm using a GF 5200 FX.

You can claim drivers issues all you want, but fact remains that this is only happening to a few games compared to the number of games out there.

With the 56.72 drivers i'm getting lousy performance, even worse when opening the editor and hoovering above the purple circles surrounding the replicators.

With my GeForce 5900 XT card I'm getting 10-20 fps in what should have given 60-80. I have a second computer also running 56.72 on a GeForce TI4600 card, and performance is so much better, 60-80 fps. Considering the FX5900 XT card is suppose to be a better card than the TI4600 according to Tom's Hardware Guide I should be getting better fps.

I've noticed alot of people from Anarchy Online also complaining about the newest drivers, the Anarchy Online engine is based on DX6-7, while I run Torque in OpenGL.

I do wonder what these games that show lousy performance with the newest drivers have in common. I'm also wondering if nVidia is aware of this, is garagegames doing anything to alert nVidia about the bugs/performance hits with their drivers?

I just have a hard time imagining a scenario in the future where I will have to tell my game buyers that because we chose an engine that obviously seems to have issues with nVidia, while other engines don't, you are just going to have to live with the crappy FPS.

This isn't meant as a flame towards Torque or anything, so please don't treat it as it is.

I also find it weird that some people get an increase in FPS with the 56.72 drivers while other people are getting the exact opposite result.

I also read in other threads people are talking about 57.xx drivers, where do you get those? All I see is 56.72 and older.

Well framerate isn't the only issue i'm having with the FX5900 XT card, fog is also very different compared to the TI4600 card.

I did a test just now, in our most croweded area I got an averege of 17 fps with the FX card, while the mspf was around 50ish, whatever mspf is anyway. On the TI4600 card I was getting 50 fps on averege, while the mspf was around 18 on averege. It's like on both the computers the numbers are all reverted for some reason, why is the FX card getting the total opposite FPS/MSPF compared to the TI4600?

The FX card computer has slightly better hardware, both computers running Windows XP SP1 all updated.

So what you are saying is that i'm one of few people who have issues with the 56.72 drivers and FX cards?

If so, 3rd party software, or specific hardware is crashing with the card. Would really like to know what :)

V60.85 has been WHQL certified and is awaiting to be logo'd so you can always wait for that, should be on general release soon.
