Wingman has created a new Expert course called "Davy Jones Locker"! This course is now available on the Wingman server (password "wingman"). You must have both of his courses installed before joining this server. You can download his courses from www.gamingprojects.com.

Cool. Will it be non-ranked too just like Moonbase?

That's correct.

On a related note Justin, two more requests for the next version...

With regards to the floating ships in DJL, can we have a fix to the 'floater' bug/feture which can cause you to get trapped underwater!

Also, if custom maps are going to be actively supported (which I believe we all wish!), can a CRC check be done prior to starting a level to warn affected players, and the host, if someone has an incorrect version (e.g. still on a beta release) of the map. Rather than just dumping them out of the game unceremoneously with an 'incorrect version' message!

Kevin - that and many other small tweaks need to be made to properly support custom maps - and are on the list.

Why cant the custom maps be ranked?

The biggest problem with ranking custom maps is that not everyone in the Orbz community has them - which presents and unfair advantage to the players that do.

There's also the issue of cheating (not that any of you guys would but it's been known to happen :). In this case, someone could create their own extermely easy course (like one star or something) and rack up rank points quite easily. For this reason, custom maps will have to be approved by 21-6 before they can be ranked.

We also have the issue of some custom maps being ranked and others NOT being ranked. It's a confusing experience for the casual gamer - and something we have to solve in Orbz 3.

Finally, there are some technical issues with custom maps and how they are identified from server to server. Each server could have a different set of custom maps - which results in some confusion on the ranking server as to what maps are being played.

We are working hard to figure out all these issues for Orbz 3 so that we can officially allow custom maps to be built (using an in-game editor) and be be approved for ranked play.

Well could the moon base and the davy jones locker be ranked? If people dont have them then they can go to www.gamingprojects.com and get them.

I apologize for not making this more clear.

Ranked play will not be supported on custom maps in Orbz 2.1. However, the next version of Orbz should support this.
