New linux installers posted.

by John Quigley · in General Game Discussion · 02/19/2004 (5:31 pm) · 4 replies

New packages for Orbz and Orbz Demo have been posted to the GG site. These packages fix an installer crash on startup that occurs on some systems.

There were no other updates, so if you are not having this problem, there is no need to redownload the package.

So where can I get these updated packages? I just got the demo for Linux and I can't run the "orbz_gg_2_10.sh.bin" file at all. I'm running Ubuntu Edgy if that helps.

Uh... that would be the only package. This thread is over three years old. :)

What error are you getting when you run the file?

I don't get an error message, it simply will not run. I have no clue what's wrong.

When you download the file initially, you will need to change the permissions on the file so it's executable. At a command line interface, just type chmod a+x orbz_gg_2_10.sh.bin. You should at least be able to run the file. It's also better to run the installer from the CLI, in case any errors crop during the initial startup.
