For those with slow nvidia drivers...

Developers,
Just to let you know that it seems like the problems associated with the new forceWare drivers and Torque are now fixed or at least drastically improved. I don't believe that the new drivers are on public release yet but I can confirm that v56.54 from nVidias private developers site brings my Torque build framerate back up into the hundreds!

Any chance you can find/post a url to those drivers? I'd really love to test
them and see if I can get my framerate back above 18 fps..

You can get them if you're a registered nvidia developer, or possibly from one of the sites who specialize in "leaked" drivers (are they still around ?)
They seem to make quite a difference from what I've seen so far.
Thanks for the heads up Melv !!

As Nicolas mentioned, normally Guru3D have some 'leaked' drivers there although I've not checked myself. Unforuntately, I can't link to them as they are behind my private access logon, sorry. :(
Another intesting thing to note is that these new drivers have the capabilty, via extensions, to support initial OpenGL2 (GLSL). It is only an initial release but the toe has definately been put into the water!
Muchos Cooliness!

Tim told me the other day that ATI also has initial GLSL support in their latest drivers. This is very interesting news, let's hope they both run well ;)

I couldn't agree more. I heard the same thing about the ATI drivers so it looks like that moment we've all been waiting for is nearly upon us. :)

Yeah, ATI put the glslang in the drivers from Catalyst 3.9 onward (been too lazy to install my 9500 Pro in my spare PC ;))

Just put in an nVIDIA 5950, and the 56.54 drivers solved several problems I was seeing for DirectX. Auto mip-map generation in particular was a big problem causing nasty delays on texture creation. I'd say they are definitely better. Unfortunately they are not yet publicly available.

How does one join?
I also went to the Guru3D site and their offering the 53.06 drivers. Should I risk updating to it?

Um. I went to the NVidia site to find out how to be an NVidia's private developer. Can't seem to find any info. :(How does one join?

@Alex: I got private access by getting complete pis*ed with a bunch of nVidia folks (a couple quite senior). That was a good night in London ... and the long island teas flowed like wine.
