Servers & Lag

Joe,

This is becoming a serious problem. Players are dropping from the game because of lag problems, dropped packets and unreliable servers.

Folx East of the Mississippi are consistenly seeing pings in excess of a tenth of a second and some foreign players feel lucky if they beat a quarter of second.

One thing that might help is to reduce the capacity of the homelan servers from ten to eight. It seems that with a couple of slow machines in a game the last to participants can drop my frame rate from a 38-48 range down to 18-25.

ThinkTanks the is the most continual enjoyment I have had since I discovered girls more than half a century ago. I would be ever so disappointed to see y'all fail as the result of solvable technical issues. I'm concerned that if y'all don't get some venture capital behind ya the player base will dwindle. You have an addictive piece of software and last thing y'all our customers saying is, "Think Tanks is a great game but the lag makes it unplayable."

I have quite a bit of lag, here in NYC

it's unfortunate, I love the game.

Also in NYC, I have "consistently-random" problems with lag as defined by sluggy above.

The games are much better with only 6 or 8 players anyway. 10 good players is a lottery free-for-all and not as entertaining.

Just my opinion.

My son is the server genius in the family. I have asked him about taking one of our "retired" servers from the office and using it for Think Tanks. He says he can do it but I was wondering something. Would anyone want a server that was dedicated to 56k connections? I have access to plenty of hardware but will admit to being on the marketing side of the operation and not as technical as Son Jr. He is an EE and I am an MBA. I know a server can be set up but the 56k part is something I need some input on.

Thanks for any suggestions.

The lag is so bad in the U.K. it is un-playable.

It is just a good Job that it is so addictive on my own aswell.
