Bravetree And Shockwave: We Need Servers! Heeeelp!!

by Hugobrain · in ThinkTanks · 11/28/2003 (1:57 pm) · 8 replies

OK now, BT and SW you must be aware of this fact, hereby expressed by a long-time TT player, and supported by countless in-game chat critics: The server distribution is all wrong!!
Most servers are sitting there, empty and useless, while we cannot even have a decent TEAM SCRUM server! (HOMELAN recently is laggy beyond playability!)

Here is a suggested list of servers, reflecting the real-life needs of active players:

Scrum Lush x2
Scrum Lush (6 players)
Scrum Frantic
Scrum Spooky

Team Scrum Lush x2
Team Scrum Frantic
Team Scrum Spooky

BM Lush x2
BM Frantic
BM Spooky

Team BM Lush x2
Team BM Frantic
Team BM Spooky

CTF (all 12 maps) x2

The above can be split between BT, SW and -Z- servers. I mean lately, either the rooms are full or empty, and THERE IS NO MORE TEAM SCRUM SERVERS waaaa!

Thanks for your time,
Regards,

Hugobrain

Well, while I agree with the new server ideas, I think they should keep the old server games up and running (for otheer player's sake (Demos 2))

also plz keep the HomeLan servers up, since it's the only 4 places I can use my ufo :)

Cadc I think demos can join any games except teams. That leaves 9 servers for demos.
I'm not talking about 'new servers', but about which game types should be offered from the existing ones. Cheers! HB

The documentation that comes in the Think Tanks folder tells you all about setting up a server.
You can also search this forum and probably find what your looking for in the older posts.

I'd thought the game was lost when the commercial dedicated hosted servers left. Further the community web page "PlanetThinkTanks.com" left the planet. It looked like it was time for the old timers to drop hope for this game. I see that there is a renewed gaming platform, via web, coming out. I think, that if you can combine the Xbox, Computer and web player groups together you would have new a good growth community. These groups probably have never met in interactive tank gaming. It is good to see an old name show up again TD. I really liked this game and have played over a long time. It does need some fixing to make it the competitive game it started to be in 2003. Random placement is not that random. With the current fewer players, more spread out in distance, the game is not as competitive as our initial cluster of West Coasters who once played. I'm still around and hope to see a renewal in product and the growth of new users that would go with it.
