Questions related to creating a player

hey again guys, I actually got in an animated playermodel today...
looks like shit and needs a lot of animation :)
but it was there..
Now regarding the player I got a few questions.
I got my own skeleton atm, would it be better to "copy" the orignal when it comes to bones?
can I then use the allready ingame animations or do I still need to make my own?
Do I store animations in guns or player? I mean like "rifle_run" and such?

ok, this is wierd I think.. I was able to bind my mesh to the original skeleton but I cant seem to bind the original aniamations to it??it turns out like this:

made my first rigged character ever :)
still needs texture work but it is easy to animate :)
