Try giving C++ In 21 Days a shot. It takes you from basic to intermediate pretty quickly.

Okay...

do you want to be a game developer?

Pick up a game engine like Unity, Unreal 4 or Torque 3D and start learning to script first. In most cases you will not need to learn C++ in the first many years.

Do you want to be a game engine developer?

Start learning C++ first and then move slowly over to DirectX and OpenGL

Do not make the mistake many do and try to be both.

An alternative route is to simply pick up Unreal 4 and go the C++ way making a game(go to their youtube channel and you are bombed with visual programming videos holding your hands all the way).

However I really recommend this book for a start:
Beginning C++ Through Game Programming

Oh and the c++ in 21 days are fine too, but beware it is... a bit more theoretical and hence more comprehensive for some people. I liked it though :O)
