T3D wiki -- Call to arms!
by Lukas Joergensen · in Torque 3D Professional · 09/25/2014 (12:29 am) · 34 replies
Hey guys, I've been working on a new wiki for T3D to replace TDN and I could really use some help filling it with content and getting feedback on it.
It's still under construction, so I'd also love to get some feedback on structure, design categories etc.
If you feel like contributing, feel free to open up the TDN importing guidelines page, or simply help filling out the other pages like updating the FrontPage etc.
Thanks for your time! I hope you'll back this initiative.

With one condition: Don't put my name on it. That way if something is wrong I can have "plausible deny-ability" and say, "Who the hell did this?"
I am mostly kidding...

Hey, just to confirm what I said on IRC. You can port anything I did on TDN...With one condition: Don't put my name on it. That way if something is wrong I can have "plausible deny-ability" and say, "Who the hell did this?"
I am mostly kidding...

Heh. How do we find out what stuff you did on TDN?

Not a whole lot, most out of date.

This page, a list of video tutorials about the editors, prompts me to ask something I've been meaning to ask for a while. What should go in 'getting started' versus in a section relevant to its content specifically? For example, I'd have put that page in the Artists section.

Also, artists have to get started too.. Although I do agree there are some overlap there.

Well, I think that the editors are one of the key-points of getting started with Torque3D.. You can't really use Torque3D untill you can use the editors :PAlso, artists have to get started too.. Although I do agree there are some overlap there.

Unless you know how to code ;). But I mean, what content should be placed where, and why? Maybe Getting Started should just have links to content in other sections that is relevant to beginners.

Yeah thats a good idea, I'll move it.

the only problem then is providing instructions on how to get them to work in Torque as there are many different formats on those sites

i have seen the assets page and think adding a section for sites such as OpenGameArt and BlendSwap would be a good ideathe only problem then is providing instructions on how to get them to work in Torque as there are many different formats on those sites

I've begun the process of porting the GitHub wiki to wikidot. Everyone else feel free to jump aboard! It's not the most exciting work but I think it'll be worth it - there's some good stuff on that wiki.

I would like to help contribute to the wiki :)

The front page has a section called 'contributing to this wiki' - see if there's anything there that takes your fancy! THere are a couple of stub pages that link to other pages that can be ported to the wiki, and a wealth of info on TDN and the github wiki that can be ported. Or just start filling in knowledge in parts of the wiki you're interested in!
