Looking for a few people

Greetings all!

For some time I have been away from the community, and while learning the in and outs of VR, and getting in on the Oculus Rift DK1(and soon the DK2), I realized that acceptable input was lacking, and since I was already making a Stargate based game i thought: "Why not have a P90 motion controller?" and so the the P90 motion Controller was born:O) So far just a prototype with relative camera movements, it still works great!(Video just as soon as Sparkfun get the new IMU here!) This controller is designed just for the rift, but will work with pretty much ANY game, but of course will be better if your playing a FPS.

So with that in mind I am looking for a few people who want to get on board with this. I have been at it for over 6 months just myself, and I have a basic AHRS working well enough for testing, and I am ironing out the rumble controllers, which will be a piston so that we actually get something other than just vibrations! There is a bit more planned for it, but the idea was to keep it relatively simple, although i DID put in a IR switch to trigger the scope as soon as you put your face up to the sights.

I will need two programmers. one to tackle absolute movements, and someone else to handle getting this going within Unreal 4. Then we will also need a modeler or two, and some people who fancy themselves level designers.
I know this seems a lot to ask of people, see that I am offering nothing but the idea so far types out here, without too much thought to grammar! I will do it all myself if I have to, it all I work on day and night. This is my job, and while it isn't generating an revenue I DO generate enough to cover 'some' licensing, with as far as the engine goes, but I am hoping artist will have their own modeling packages licenced to themselves( I know I do!).
So here in the end you can find a picture over at the Oculus Forums, as this is where I first showed the prototype.

Thanks to all, and I really hope there is some people will to dedicate their time to this great project!! (BTW!! As far as MGM goes, and getting a franchise license goes: once we have a demo, and the VR Gun works, I have been told they WILL talk to us, but they won't approach anything without some sort of demo!)

Sounds interesting. I've had experience using various IMUs and the best cheap ones I've worked with are the boards using the MPU-6050 + compass module like the GY-521 board for pretty great AHRS results using InvenSense's library, not the Arduino's community library though.

Sparkfun's MPU-9150 breakout seems to be the way to go for more modern 9DOF MPU boards.

Yes, we're electronic hardware nerding out here instead of the usual game dev talk. ;)

Well here is the one we are using atm:

i can get their firmware going no problem, but I want more than just mouse emulation. I need to get a good serial C++ going over the COM, then move the Euler yaw pitch roll vector to a match 2d vector, all the while capturing the delta. Hopefully I can use this to fake an absolute position. Even though I don't have the Sparkfun one at the moment(Mag died!) I have a GY-80, and it is very similar, and is at least going to give some data that I can work with until the replacement arrives.

See it NEEDs to be C++ so we can merge that into a .dll? so we can create some sort of bridge to Unreal 4. I might check the Oculus SDK for how that is done.

Well I am back to using Unity, although I would rather use Torque, but I can't get a good clean C++, with Torque, and Serial C++ with the Serial COM I am using....Unless someone applies for this position.

Although I cannot pay much I was thinking about a sort of bounty system. Instead of myself coming up with all the things that need to be done, together we would draw out a timeline or plan, and I would pay on the point by point basis, that way you are not doing ALL the work before getting paid anything. Although I cannot do a good job at what I need done, I do know a bit about it,( so I cannot be scammed, not that I expect such things from this community). Also what I need is not very much, it could easily add up to a couple hundred dollars worth of work depending on the route we go based on your recommendations. I hope to see interested parties apply soon.
