Where is FPS Tutorial Template?
by Don Mattingly · in Torque 3D Beginner · 04/15/2014 (7:55 am) · 6 replies
I am a complete newbie and trying to do the FPS Tutorial. However, the latest version of T3D that I downloaded does not have the FPS Tutorial in the Templates file. What am I missing?

Edit:
Looks like Joao beat me to it. That's what I get for opening the tab and going to a meeting. :)

The FPS template is not part of the download package. Part of the setup process in the tutorial is downloading the template separately. We've always kept them separate to keep the size of the package down.Edit:

Thanks, guys. Somehow the tutorial skipped me past that download page. So, now I'm a few pages further on and having trouble with Torsion download - when I attempt it, it says that the file cannot be downloaded, that it may have been moved or deleted.

I'm not sure how you got that error, I just tried and it worked fine. Try downloading it again.

Cleared Internet Explorer history and temp files and tried to download again, with no luck. Maybe my firewall is "protecting" me, but it didn't object to the other downloads from Garage Games.

In fact, I paused Kaspersky and tried again and it downloaded. Sorry for the panic.

This template is no longer shipped with the Torque 3D MIT versions; you should download its file.
1. Click on the link below:
www.garagegames.com/products/torque-3d/fps#/1-setup/2
2. Next, click on the button "Download Demo."
3. After the download has been finished, copy the FPS_Tutorial.zip. Now, open your Torque 3D folder, and you will see a folder named Templates. Open it and paste the FPS_Tutorial.zip file you have just copied.
3.1 After that, you should unzip the file previous mentioned. Following you will see a folder titled FPS_Tutorial, open it and search for the folder "game." After found it, you should open it and inside it; you will find the FPS Tutorial.exe file. Now you should run it. That's all.
Have fun!
