no compatible display - Hardware Issue?

by Zachary Pearson · in Torque 2D Beginner · 02/17/2014 (10:59 am) · 3 replies

I just downloaded the torque 2d binary and attempted to run the application it included, but it gives me an error saying that it "Could not find a compatible display device". I searched around for a while and found it might have to do with driver/harder incompatibility, but nothing I found had said that explicitly. Could anyone verify this?

I have an older (and fairly shitty) graphics card: mobile intel 45 express chipset family. I suspect this is the issue, but would just like verification.

Thanks!

What version of Windows are you running on that laptop?

In your Torque2D folder, where you can find Torque2D.exe, you should also find a file called console.log. This file will tell you what went wrong, just scroll to the last lines in the file to get a description.

Windows 7. The log showed that there was an issue with OpenGL, found out I needed to update my graphics driver. Its working now. Thanks! I'll remember to check the console.log whenever I run into issues!

Lucky - many mobile chipsets just don't work with Torque.
