Thanks for the info Michael. I know almost nothing about the phone app creation process. Not even enough to know how to describe what we need. We do actually have an app for PC built using T3D and Awesomium and it has a lot of features for the game. Things like Instant Messaging, Contacts, Ranks and Stats, Alliance info, My Account Info, Maps, Help etc. They're all web based pages wrapped in an application we built. I could give you more info and a look at it if that would help. I created a link to the pages on my iPhone and it already works about like expected but the icon doesn't really and it's not packaged up so that a user can go to our site and download the app.

I understand what you are asking for. In order for an iOS app to have a chance, you would need to have actual functionality and not just a web browser. Think about how the GTA V iFruit app works. There is actual functionality in the app, which connects to your home game account. You talk about IM, contacts, ranks, and stats. If that data is exposed to the application, you can make custom views for it. You could still use a view to display web pages, but the more web based the content, the more likely the app would be bounced. It all comes down to how you present it.

Does it need to go through the app store or is there another way to get an icon onto someone's iphone. It's not an app we're trying to sell. If I create my own icon on my phone it creates an icon outline but then shows various versions of the site/page somewhat randomly.

There's no easy or trusted way to do so. Your best bet is to have some nicely worded text that explains to the user "how to access ___ from your iOS", then include bookmarking instructions. I don't have any other ideas other than the full app.

Are you interested in discussing a full app further as a small project you would be willing to work on or just trying to provide some helpful hints?

It's definatly not the best way, but it's cheaper.

On Android it's not unusual for people to just load a webpage and release it on the Play Store even though it's just a simple browser where you can't change the webpage. It's definatly not the best way, but it's cheaper.

@Scot - Sorry, I'm not available for any side work. GG takes up my core hours, then family, then my own side project. I wish you the best of luck though.

Thanks for the input guys. Anyone with experience in this arena who wants to make a quick buck, please contact me via the email address in my profile. I'm looking into setting up an iOS developer account.

I don't know about Android, but that will be rejected by the iOS App Store. Might want to rethink the approach. Maybe create an app that has some features in addition to an in-app browser that loads your web pages.
