Should be ready for some time in December.

Community Art - Christian
Nothing new this week.

T3D 3.5 Release - Committee
Torque 3D 3.5 was released on November 13: www.garagegames.com/community/blogs/view/22486. We are now looking at a possible v3.5.1 release to catch a couple of small bugs. In addition, David is looking into recompiling the Rift Valley demo and releasing it, as well as a new Rift/Hydra demo. All of this may happen in the next couple of weeks.

With T3D having been open source for 14 months and v3.5 out, we're going to put all Steering Committee activities on hold for now while we evaluate the future.

@T3D MIT Steering Committee,

It's good to know that a patch for the T3D version 3.5 is expected to be released soon.

Thanks for the information.

Cheers,

Thanks for all the work guys :)

I am really looking forward to the Rift and Hydra template I have some great ideas I wanna use that for :)

I am sad to hear about the on hold it's kinda ominous as david said so fingers crossed

Also one thing I did find was I couldn't get caustics post effect working with the rift I haven't turned it off it just doesn't seem to work for me???

Also trying to use the car with the rift crashes as well but I don't know if these are extra bugs that have been found and will be corrected or not?

It is halted.

The goal was to bring the engine into the community hand, but there was not enough participation.

And since there is no official response from garagegames and we didn't want to wait for it, we took it into our own hands to continue the open source development, to hopefully make the development happen much faster.

Here is the thread for it: www.garagegames.com/community/forums/viewthread/135730/9

Well, I will then have to think about how to help you out. I do not want this engine to fade out....

I am back to thinking mode.

The engine won't die as long as people are willing to use it. It is in our hands now. I think it is healthy for GG to not baby it along. If it is not bringing in money for GG then why sink money into it?

is it in our hands?
see aslong as teh developement is not continuing under open source - it is not.

The few ppl that are working on things, are all actually working solo and relying on community input regarding stability.

I for one would want to unite them all in the process of the engine developement.

For example Luis Linux work, should have been in the officialy repo, nm if its unstable - its important to keep the stuff together and better visible.

This way future contributors could easily hop on and extend the engine and fix bugs.

@Jolinar
It is in our hands even if development is not continued.. That just means we are doing nothing with it, still the future of the engine IS in our hands.

It seems that the committee has been put on a hold and that we the community decides the outcome now.

Oh and merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!! :o)

Edit:

I guess the question all should ask themselves now is:

"Should I become tool developer or game developer or perhaps a middle thing?"

thanks and same to you also ..

as for the halt, i wonder when it'll be resumed again. its open source and in the community's hand, but will the engine be continued like it was before without the committee?

i don't know even remotely how t3d engine works, so i can not be the middle thing.

i know there's Project Greed, for FPS, but still seeing this halt, it scares me, and sometime i wonder if this is it for t3d :(

but, With Luis Antonio Robello (i hope i wrote his name correctly) working on Linux (and opengl?) port, i hope the engine survives.

and what about the android / iOS port someone wrote about in/around April, 2013?

Even I don't know if the committee or the development of the main repo will be continued, so I guess no or not very much.
We try to unite people who want to stay open source under Greed, so far 9 people signed up into the group, so I guess Torque will not die.
