I am New

Hey all :)

I have spent the last several weeks working with Torque 3D and it just feels right to me as a indie developer. the formats are familiar i have some issues i am working through but i wont talk about that now. How is everyone doing this fine day? :)

I recently quit my former company and decided to go at game development alone. i work on my game about 12-18 hours a day and i have a vision now. MOCAP is now on the top of my list for Torque 3D, i have been working with Install Forge to setup my package and I am very happy with the results.

I am just so excited to work with a engine i can understand with little Torque Script exp. working solo that really helps.

I would like to give a shout out to a couple members here that i have been watching for quite some time now.

Richard Ranft, Steve Acaster, Michael Perry, and Scott Burns!

Thanks guys you have been a major factor in me switching gears away from Hero Engine.

Last I remember of the Hero Engine, that was costing at least $700,000 dollars, one reason why I didn't look further into it. and then it was only being sold to AAA companies.

how did you manage to get a hold of it?
And what was wrong with the Hero engine that you needed to change?

@ Gary, Nothing is really majorly wrong with Hero Engine i just hated how code driven doing everything was. We got it for 500 bucks with a lifetime membership but i left it in the hands of my former partners.

@ J0Linar Thanks bro, to be honest so far T3D has been awesome dialing back on the demand for code for me made it a easy transition. I have one idea i am working on atm but its not close to alpha yet waiting on my MOCAP setup.

Bought the software today going to get the hardware next week :)

You work on your game 12-18 hours daily? Wow you seem to be pretty motivated.
I was a little like that in the beginning also, shortly after Torque was released as open source, I managed to learn how to use Torque3D, modeling with blender and making textures with gimp and combining them to a level in a few month, but then I had to take some breaks and overall I am pretty lazy most times.

But you don't believe in magic....

@Josh - you didn't ask a question. I usually try to answer questions, when I'm not spouting unfounded opinionated crap that is....

@ Duion i have been thinking quite heavily about working with blender more myself seems to be a good match to T3D.

Nice hey Richard and Michael :)

@Richard i do have a question for you actually, I read the terms with garage games on T3D i understand i have to use the logo, but my question is changing the icon ok?

Resource Hacker allows me to change the little tiny torque icon to something more suited to a developing game.

@Josh - If you are using Torque 3D MIT, those terms do not apply to you. Those were only in place for Torque 3D Professional licensing. Although, we would like it if you did mention the technology in some way for your game. A splash screen is greatly appreciated, but you could just use a smaller version of the T3D logo in your own game splash. Totally up to you, no restrictions.

Welcome to the community Josh! Oddly enough, Mich and I explored using Hero Engine back in the day for a side project.

Now you've caught 'em all. I wanted to pop in yesterday but my new power tools were purchased with the promise of new cabinets installed that afternoon.
