This job has been taken. Thankyou to all who replied.

I recently picked up UbiqVisuals'3D Action Adventure Kit and immediately saw the potential for a 3D adventure game with platform elements. I've actually been thinkng about making a simple platformer for a while now, but until I started playing with this kit I was content to leave it on the backburner. Now that I've had a taste of running, jumping and climbing in Torque, I want to pull out the stops and actually produce a game with it.

I Need Help

If there's one area that I absolutely suck at (apart from coding) it's level design. I suppose most people must overlook this as a viable game development skill, but without it there won't be any game developed. I am presently stuck because I can't effectively design a decent level. I just derp around placing objects where I feel they should go, but without understanding how the flow of the map will impact gameplay.

So, I'm looking for someone with design skills who would like to help me make this game.

What Game?

Kevin is a 10 year old boy who, because of tensions at home (evil stepfather etc..) retreats to a fantasy world that exists entirely within his imagination. He takes on various personas and has some imaginary friends who join him along the way. It's an exploration game with artifact collection. Artifacts open new skill paths for Kevin (and the player), bringing to the gameplay some rpg elements. Combat will most likely feature as filler between level sections or between maps. The idea is to basically jump and climb from the game's start to the finish, collecting whichever artifacts most appeal to you, and watching Kevin come to terms with the unfairness of life.

Rewards

I'd rather that someone is biting at the bit to help out with this, but that would be unrealistic an expectation. So instead, I'm going to offer US$50 - $100 per level design, based on the idea that a single level will be drawn as a top-down plan, with side elevation sketches and notation. For anyone who is skilled in this area, it could mean a serious bit of coin for little time commitment. Hopefully this will entice someone.

Thanks for taking the time to check this post out. I look forward to being made poor in the not too distant future.

About the author

I do terrains. Lots of other stuff too, but mostly terrains. I die in games more often than not because I'm admiring the view.

Sounds like a great idea for a game. The 3D AAK is a good kit for doing games. I wish I could help out with level designing, maybe in another area. Good luck!!!
