1.82 - Terrain Block issue

Hello,
Just posting here to see if I can find some help or feedback on an issue I've just discovered.
I'm trying to create a new environment for my game prototype, one which only requires a single terrain block, not a full megaterrain.
Trouble is, my character (which ever one I choose) just falls straight through it. I remember there being a glitch where if you accidentally move the terrain block, or otherwise change some aspect of it (square size, etc), the same thing would happen. But in this case, I'm not doing any of that, including moving it.
I select Terrain Block from the 'Environment' list in the "Creator" window, let it create a base, flat terrain (since I don't have a .ter file to use) and then immediately click alt-W to allow the character to fall on it. Every time, I fall straight through.
Was support for regular terrain blocks dropped when mega-terrains were introduced? Is there some way to get them to operate correctly? I could use a megaterrain, but that would be overkill, as I do not need that much area.
Thanks!

Oh and make sure the spawnSpere is not too big so a part of it is under the terrain. No part of the SpawnSpere must be under the terrain.

I second that, I have been there myself and oh I was so frustrate about this issue. 0 0 0 is the trick. Oh and make sure the spawnSpere is not too big so a part of it is under the terrain. No part of the SpawnSpere must be under the terrain.

Setting the terrain to 0,0,0 hadn't even occurred to me.
I'll try that. Thanks again!

I'm back and forth between this and TGE. On TGEA now because the documentation seems to be much more thorough and available, which is good for me, as there's a lot I need to learn how to do. The more documentation the better.
I picked up where I left off with this last post, with the terrain being placed at 0,0,0. I did that, and it's fine. The character no longer falls through the ground.
It brings me to another (possible) issue, though... and a question.
1. It seems to throw the Mission Area completely out of whack. It seems the mission area is based around the terrain being offset by 1024 on the X and Y axis, and I can't figure out how to get it centered on its new position. Dragging the handles and such don't seem to help.
This leads me to a question...
2. Is the Mission Area even necessary? Or is that something of a vestigial element left over from older versions and/or Tribes? Is there any reason or benefit to keep it in place, or can I just as well delete it and not be fussed?
Thanks!
