2D sprite art pack?

by Andrew Son · in General Discussion · 03/14/2013 (2:10 pm) · 5 replies

Does anyone know what happened to this? It had a lot of good 2D sprites with lots of frames for animating. It looks to have just disappeared and I'd planned on purchasing it.

Which one of the packs were you referring to exactly?

There are still many 2d art packs available from the GarageGames store.

Yeah looked at it thoroughly but all the 2D art packs are environment, gui, or particle effects. The one I'm talking about had a dragon, skeleton, lich, ogre and a bunch of other stuff. It was really cool.

Unfortunately, the creator's render usage license had lapsed, so they are unable to sell the pack any longer.

Ahhh bummer :( Thank you for the feedback though. I've got a good game going in Torque 2D but right now I'm using art from other games since I can't make my own. I've been looking into making 2d sprites out of 3D models though. I saw spriteworks 2 on here but checked out some of the issues people have had with it and I'm reluctant to purchase something that I might have a lot of problems with. I wish it had a demo that I could try first. I've played around with the Spriteforge demo and it's been pretty decent so far. If anyone knows of some good programs that do this kind of work (fairly cheaply) or has alternative ideas for art they can recommend I would greatly appreciate it.

I was also just looking for the 2d pack that I'd drooled over for a long time but didn't need -- until now.

Just curious, what' s "render usage license?" I mean, I understand the meaning of the term, but what software has a limitation like that? Seems like once you've created a sprite sheet with something, any license terms wouldn't follow the creation since it was already rendered.
