This thread is private... What? Why? I mean why?

I have way too often recently seen threads who are deemed private and hence I am denied access to read them. Now I can understand that some stuff needs to be private but why in earth do a thread about attack animation in different states needs to be private?

After clicking on the link I end up with this:

Why? I mean this is useful knowledge for us Torque 3D lovers, right?

I know it can be frustrating, but there are packs and add-ons that deal with specific code (associated with products) that have to be kept private in order to protect copyright and source code. Garage Games makes these forums private in order to protect the developer. It would be great if everything was open but, when intellectual property and money is involved, it's not always possible. Keep in mind that many of these developers work long and hard on specific projects and for that effort, they deserve to determine what they reveal to the general population. Trust me, as a product developer myself, it's no small task to make and market a product for the community and if it is my source of income, I would want it protected.
