Articulated Vehicle or Pivoting mount point?

I've been searching the resources for code or script to find a resource for Articulated Vehicles.
Examples are Trains, Tractor Trailer, Cement Trucks, Bulldozer, Cranes, Kids Wagon etcetera.
They all have a Pivot point where the object bends but the vehicle half that follows the front half would often have varying turn radius.
It should be flexible for such things as a caterpillar, millipede, passenger trains, or even Triple Tractor Trailer content.
I didn't locate any such resource that actually worked for vehicle types like these.
I am not asking for methods to "fake" it. Hacks and work-around's wouldn't be user friendly when a member wants to add an Articulated Vehicle with several sections that can be unmounted.
Has anyone been tackling this physics problem for the engine?
