Best way to create animated characters

by Auyo · in Torque Game Builder · 11/09/2012 (6:48 pm) · 4 replies

I'm looking to make some basic characters for Torque. Just little characters who I can create walking/jumping animations for, and then import them into torque.

I know how to replace the main character in Torque.. But I'm not sure where to start with creating animated character models to import. Is blender the only option or is there something else? Thanks!

I think you are using Torque3D, this forum is for TGB,T2D.

blender is a free option.on youtube u can found videos on how to import animated models from blender to t3d.

u can use other paying 3d modeling apps.

for 2d model u can use this one(http://www.garagegames.com/products/spriteworks) to convert3d models to 2d sprite sheets.

there r similar free apps in net.do a search.

also there are millions of free 3d models that just need to convert to import into t3d

Ah yes, Torque3d, wrong section.

Yeah I think I will try with Blender I guess.. Do you know if Sketch-up animations work well in Torque 3d?

I can't find a tutorial on how to replace the default main character in Torque with your own imported model.. How to link up the animations etc.

A note on Blender:

There are ton of video tutorials on Youtube that show you how to use bvh files (animation files) that are made and widely free to download to use on any character that you make in Blender. This will save you a lot of time in the long run.
