There are quite a few people over 40 in the community. Heck, there's a couple of people on staff that are over 40. The reason you're not getting a response is because the topic itself is irrelevant. Age doesn't matter when it comes to learning a piece of tech and using it.

Well Ive been using torque for some time and I'm 43. I love animating, texturing, 3d modeling, codinng, scripting, its like playing god to create my own game world from the ground to the sky and everything in between. T3D or any of their engines for that matter and this community is the best in my books. Didnt know nothing bout C++ until Torque......

Age doesn't matter in game development any more than it matters in writing novels or making movies or painting or any other creative endeavor. It's not like being a football player over 40 - that's rough.
I didn't originally answer because I'm with Scott on this one - I don't feel age has any real bearing on game development. If you can find the drive to learn and do something then you've got a good start.
Us old dogs can learn new tricks, and even teach a few....

You've got to be kidding - I'm 44 and I'm sure that there are more of us who are over 40 who are just lurkers or aren't really on the forums.Age doesn't matter in game development any more than it matters in writing novels or making movies or painting or any other creative endeavor. Im 42 and working with 40+ people using T3D to create both the tools and a MMO itself. Infact, Id like to say that the main core of people are all around 40.

am 46 been in and around games development since 1980 and the good old zx80 although I learned to program on a 'comodor pet' when 1k of memory was extravagant! :p

I've experienced fewer than 40 solar revolutions... Age is irrelevant, I learned more by the age of 10 than most adults ever will.

This month makes 5 years I've been here using Torque.

I don't know why you think age matters? I picked up programming 8 years ago (I was 13 ;p). Sure, I sucked at it back then (and was enjoying Tribes 2), but practice in anything only grows your experience in it.
I have been with the Torque Community for almost 2 years now, and have submitted a few of my code projects that I spent months working on. I'm currently a full time college student but I still find time to work on my two Torque 3D Projects (one a zombie survival FPS, and the other a standard FPS).
I don't think age matters at all in game development, as long as you have the imagination and aspiration to develop, and the patience to learn the programming, anyone can succeed. Ok, I'm done now. ;)

Age != Maturity
Usually this is the case:
Age == "Set in Ways" with whatever good/bad thinking they developed as they aged.
There was a boy talking to a Wise Man. The boy was getting into trouble. The Wise Man talked calmly to the boy. He told the boy that inside every person are two wolves fighting each other. One wolf is evil and pursues greed, carnality, power, deception, and all evil things. The other wolf is good and pursues kindness, honor, humility, wisdom, and all good things. The boy asked the Wise Man, "Which one wins?" The Wise Man answered, "Whichever one you feed."
Age is the culmination of whichever wolf was fed the most.
