Hi,

Being a torque3d user, can we use 3d models available in china town game level (which is distributed free with torque3d) into our commercial project?

Yes. You will need to do some pretty significant modification to them to have them work in a friendly matter. The buildings were meant to work only in the Chinatown level as designed by Luma so they are not square, but fit like puzzle pieces for the complete level. The interior pieces will need to be separated since they are all connected models that were modeled within the space (see this YouTube video for more information).


Some of the geometry is not "complete" because the face would never be shown (such as the back of an object that was against a wall or an overturned table). You would need to finish the pieces and re-UV them.

That's the reason that we created these low-cost art packs from the assets:
Vehicle Props
Interior Props
Street Props
Buildings

It just depends on how much the time to break pieces apart and redo certain aspects is worth. You can definitely make use of the assets included with Chinatown, but there will most likely be work involved in putting them in a new environment.
