Does not run on Windows 8

Last night I was planning on messing around with TGB to see what I could do in windows 8. Sadly not much, it will not even start and run. It tries to but after asking me to approve the application running it shuts itself off.

Does the log file mention anything at all?

My first guess for a culprit would be OpenGL implementation of TGB (which uses OpenGL 1.2 if I recall).

Searching random forums yielded known issues with Windows 8's OpenGL implementation, which fails to recognize certain ATI card, thus implementing Microsoft's bare-bones OpenGL GDI 1.1 libraries.

Any word from GG if the up-and-coming T2d product has been tested on Windows 8?

Nothing in the logs, I don't even know what log to look in. Strange thing is the icon has a little Shield on it and when I run it even as administrator it pops the UAC Do you want to allow this program to make changes to this computer... includes the garage games certificate. Weird. And I do not have an ATI card. Nvidia

We have not tested T2D on Windows 8 yet.

EDIT:
And as noted, it would most likely need some significant changes due to OpenGL compatibility on W8.

If TGB games cannot run on Windows 8, please release a hotfix of sorts for it before it's officially out, or at least a blog with help on how to fix any issues.

We will have to evaluate W8's platform layer and determine estimates compatibility. If it means a complete refactor that will lose compatibility with OSX and iOS, it will take a lot of time. It may not be as simple as a hotfix.

I guess I am just surprised at being apparently the first to notice this.

And I'm a bit rusty, I still use XP :)

I've actually gotten reports from multiple other community members telling me that T2D 1.7.6 runs just fine on Win8 as is. I haven't had the chance to try it myself yet to see how well it runs.

not working for me, is there going to be a solution soon?

I've been using T2D on Win8 64 bit for over three weeks with no problems (that weren't already there) out of the box. The editor and game executables compile and run just fine using VS 2010 and 2012 (with the for macro fix and /SAFESEH removed) as well.

After installing the final purchased store version of Win8 pro it runs just fine.

Now I hope we can get the new versions to support windows RT and Windows Store games.
