I seem to recall that Illumina and Terra: Formations occupied the same universe. I think Terra was born out of Illumina and added an RTS element, not sure though, the line between them was never all that clear to me.

Reply from a developer:Quote:The Illumina reference, well there was some wild experiments back then alright with testing the TSE / TGEA engine for illumina using the higher poly Terra models compared to Illumina models but Terra & Illumina are two very different games. We are finishing off Illumina as I type here as a free standard FPS game as we pack in the last remaining maps. We are finishing off what was started so the graphics are not as hot but the gameplay is good fun. Our main focus is building Terra: Formations so we can't upgrde the Illumina graphics & as well all the code (it would require a whole engine move).Illumina webpage
Quote:The new game engine we are working on is the Unreal Engine 3 (UDK)! The license terms are now more indie friendly than they were (near impossible) back a few years ago. The engine is making Terra explode with amazing visuals and we are still improving the graphic assets. It's not all visuals, it's about the game-play but no harm having some pretty looking stuff eh :)

Glad to see Illumina is at least getting a proper release soon. I remember word of it kind of fell by wayside for a while, and then it seemed to all but fall off the map entirely after Josh Moore passed.

The wrapping up of Illumina is near, the amount of maps has increase, improvements in misc areas towards todays standard pc specs. A few bugs remain that are being hunted down (anyone want to give a helping hand on this will be great), and play-testing begins this weekend to see if anything else pops up as well adjust the gameplay.
I hope for a Christmas release for Illumina, but keep in mind its still on TGE (not the latest) and it will be released for free in memory of Josh Moore. This is why I am wrapping it up and putting it out for release, once and for all.

Edit: Also their youtube channel have videos of both games so definetly seems like Illumina reborn.
