Constructor for building design, several issues

So i always enjoyed CSG brush modeling to build man made structures, it's simply fun to use and texture allignment is painless.

I'm trying to make a non torque project that require me to model a 50 rooms manor as a single model, however Constructor isn't very metric friendly, and my blueprints and scales are metric.

Any suggestions on how to proceed? Or is there a way to pass constructor in metric measurements?

Another problem, it appears that the current version of torque cannot import difs properly, there is a mess of flipped faces here and there.

Is that normal?

I know that we aren't supposed to use difs anymore but T3D is pretty much a necessary step to export the optimized dif interior to collada. Or is there another way?

Exporting to LWA directly from constructor doesn't merge the brushs so it's a no no.

I still use Constructor and I'm pretty sure that it uses meters. The .dif's were always properly scaled in TGEA. Even if it doesn't, you could make the building to the proper dimensions in Constructor, then scale it in T3D.

As for .difs not working, I save the building in a .map file in Constructor and then convert it to something Milkshape can use with DeleD or UltimateUnwrap3d, and then export to .dts. DeleD and UUW3D both have collada exporters, so you could use that as well, and DeleD is free.

I was reading somewhere that the .map forwat was a mess and fucked up UVs, am i wrong?

So... T3D 1.2 can't import .dif properly anymore?

My prod chain right now is:
Constructor -> dif
diff -> T3D -> Export Interior as Collada(dae)
dae -> 3dsmax and final touches.

I am trying DelED right now, but the .map format gives me the raw brushes.

What i would like to get is the merged brushes, as they appear in a dif.

I managed to import my little test house properly, it turns out that to make a triangular roof i had to use the cut tool instead of moving one set of vertices on another, however the cathedral example in constructor doesn't go through the dif export properly, did something change? Or does this model has a bug of some kind?

Use Sketchup....pass thru T3D...done.

...well, might need some cleaning up of backfaces, etc...but Sketchup is a little darling, ;). The use of guides is extremely accurate, whether Metric or Imperial units.

I really, rather use a CSG brush modeling tool for this kind of things.

I don't know if it's still available but 3D World Studio might work for you, Kyrah. I actually much prefer it to Constructor anyway. It also allows you to bake lighting. Nifty.
