The scale depends on the format and exporter. I really like the old Gnometech Lightwave DTS Exporter for certain things. I believe the scale is 1:1 where 1 meter in Lightwave is 1 unit in torque. However, somewhere in between using an old plugin for Lightwave 9 to bring objects into the latest T3D things can get a bit screwy. I've had some odd issues mostly dealing with "skinned" meshes.

This is where the collada exporter comes in. You can't specify any dts settings from the start as with the DTS exporter, but T3D seems to like these files much more. While exporting, it will ask if you want to scale your object. I suggest trying out a few numbers until your shapes come out right. 0.67 seems to get my custom meshes to the appropriate size. For 3rd party content (like the zombie pack) I had to scale them by 0.01!

Sorry for the long winded post! One last thing. Once you find a scale that works for your objects, I suggest sticking with it. Deciding down the road to tweak a mesh but not being able to remember the perfect scale you used is a nightmare. :p

Does the console log say anything as to why?
