Display Issues on DAE Model Imports into Torque

by Michael Stoll · in Artist Corner · 03/24/2012 (5:06 pm) · 2 replies

To start from the beginning, I modeled a basic dropship model, animated it, and then exported it to DAE and put it into Torque. Originally, the model was not appearing at all due to an issue with materials not being applied to the model, so once I fixed that, I figured it would appear. It doesn't, unfortunately. The model only partially appears, displaying only the entryway ramp (the animated part of the model). It IS animated, so that's good, but I'm not sure how accurate the animation is, seeing as it twitches back and forth. Where is the rest of the model? The bounding box seems accurate, but the rest of the model isn't there.

There seems to be some issues with the dae exporter in blender still...

When i load a model into blender thats been rigged in mixamo save it (with no changes) then load it in blender it very badly.

I think Tod may have found a solution to the problem here (not tried yet)

Make sure the material is double sided as well as any Alpha settings off. Play around with all material settings in "Advanced" to see if you can get it to work. I had the same issue on some models before.
