Ragdoll bugs (among others...)
by Bryce · in Game Mechanics Kit · 03/20/2012 (8:07 pm) · 16 replies
I've got to say, I'm pretty appalled by how little documentation is included with this kit. Can someone tell me what's needed to set up one of my character models for ragdoll physics? What do I need in the model? What do the fields in the datablock do?
Help is appreciated.

This also happens with the Bullet library.

You can look at GMK problems, with which I faced.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InEoUHP7kPc

Does it happen with stock T3d and GMK installation?

Sure does. I'm using PhysX 2.8.4, if that helps at all.

It seems to happen the most when two ragdolls are close to each other.

You can see there are issues with soft bodies being walk through able, falling through the floor, not responding to gun blasts and not being textures when using Bullet and GMK. This is a walk through on how we installed Bullet, GMK and Guidebot and it also documents the "issues" we're having with soft bodies.

Sorry guys! Still no news. The only options able to solve this problems with GMK and Guide Bot if some one are willing to take over the libs from me. Seems like I won't have time in foreseeable future to check it on my own. Since my current HTML5 start-up needs all available time in the world :(

Hmm... So Game Mechanics Kit is officially closed for support and maintenance then? Or am I'm misunderstanding this.

GMK was updated for the latest version of the t3d, as well as Guide Bot.
However I just can't fix all those new issues that come up with almost every T3D update. It's not GMK problems in fact but ever-changing T3D code.
@Bryce
Step 1) Release broken product.
GMK was released in 2008 and survived numerous updates including major from TGEA to T3D. With numerous bugfixes for T3D being reported at a time. So saying "Release broken product" is completely untrue.
At current state GMK is no more broken than T3D itself.
I'm sorry and I'm appreciate everyone who purchased GMK or Guide Bot, but currently I just can't afford provide support for the products. As I'm say I will try to handle the development to someone who have the ability to support the product.

Yuri. Hope you didn't take my question as an accusation. Just wanted some info about future updates. I can fully understand the problems with keeping up to date with all changes that T3D goes through. No hard feeling there. As I say, just wanted to get clear information on the current situation, no problems from my side. Cheers

Sorry, I didn't want to sound bitter as well. Hopefully I will be able to give GMK support and product will live. But at the moment, I can provide only a bare minimum support myself.

Parts of the model stretch out to (what appears to be) 0,0,0. After I keep adding more ragdolls, they all whack out and start flickering. What's going on here?
EDIT: I'm using the PhysX library, with T3D 1.2
