Hi all,
I am just wondering how much interest there is in the classroom for 2D teaching materials. 3D is sexy and really hard so there is a lot of learning in the classroom...what about 2D? Chime in...

It's way easier to make sprites than models.
Some people have an easier time visualizing and understanding plane geometry than solid geometry.
So, to me it seems like it would be faster and easier to get things up and running in 2d for the average person. Even if you understand 3d math and how it relates to rendering and scene manipulation there are just fewer things to fiddle with in 2d.
I'm with Mike in that I don't personally feel one is really "harder" than the other, but I know it seems like it's harder to explain 3d to people than to explain 2d....

I think torque 2d would make a great teaching tool and as Richard said it is much easier to create your graphical assets in 2d.
