Does any one know how to load PVR images. Thanks for any one who had some tips...

Hi Marc I did what you told me in the images folder I have background1.png and background1.pvr. When I play the game in the ipod touch it would just give me a white screen. Am I doing something wrong here or is there more steps to be followed? Is there a format that my image need to be or size.

@Eliezer - Can you look in our Xcode output window to see if there are warnings or errors related to the file?

Hi Michael I don't have my ios device with me at the moment. But I ran a simulator and the same thing happen. I get a error but i got this from the output "Failed to create Background1ImageMap_0, w/h = 512/1024!" The regular image size is 512x512. When in the editor I made it to be 1024x768. What precaution do I need to know before I use PVR & steps to take to make sure I do everything correct. Thanks

I converter another image into pvr. It look like it converted it and I was able to use it The size was 1024x1024. The odd thing about it that it when it play it is upside down. The other thing is that I am not saving ram it is using the same amount of ram as a PNG. Do I need to convert it to PRVTC 4bb or PVRTC 2bb or other option and what open gl should I use?Any help would be great. Thanks

I did a test with loading images until memory warnings started to occur on an iPad. At seven 2048x2048 png images the memory warning appeared. With pvr images the memory warning appeared at sixty 2048x2048 images. So using pvr images should reduce memory usage a lot. I use 4bb in the PVRs.

Hi Simon thank you for the comment. I was using the 4pvrtc and also try the 8pvrtc I did not notice 4bb.Under what section is the 4bb located at I probably did not notice it. I have to try that one. I know there is open gl then open 2 gl tab and couple of more. I use the pvrtc tool Itorque 2d comes with. On what tab is 4bb is on? I don't have my laptop with me once I get a chance I will look for the 4bb and try it out.

Sorry, I misspelled the 4bb. To clarify, I am using the PVRTC 4BPP under the openGL-es 2.0 tab. With "BEST" selected as image quality and "image only - no mip-map levels".Hope that helps.

I saw a more better performance but not sure If I wan to use this because the images intend to get blurry and not as good as it should be. I was messing with source rect and saw some good performance But my biggest problem is loading some animation. I will have to do some research. Thanks every one

To have them working in iT2D / on the computer, you need to put a png with the same name along the pvr
