Problems with TGB GUI / text cannot be entered

I hope this is the right forum to post this problem.
There are some problems with the GUI of the TGB itself. In the GUI builder, I cannot see the text of the "headlines" in the properties section. E.g. things like "text" or "textID" are displayed properly, but the text of the the black boxes with which you can collapse the sections is missing. In the TGB itself, this text is not missing (in the "Edit" tab).
Another problem I am facing from time to time (but too often!) is that text of drop down menus is not visible / selectable, or text I'm entering in fields is not displayed correctly, just some white boxes with dots around them. This happens mainly in the GUI builder, but it is very annoying, as you've got to restart TGB several times to get it working.
Anyone else with the same problems or a reliable workaround?
