This was a post straight @ GG employees.
I'd like to release the updated sources I have for the max2dts exporter & the maya2dts exporter.

- My idea; I'd like to host a read-only SVN that is password protected.

- The process of being allowed access to the SVN;
1. I would ask that people who want access, request that by email to me or by posting in this thread.
2. Before allowing them access, I would check their user to verify that they have a TGE license. Of course this is due to the package requiring TGE SDK.

Is this proper enough for you guys to allow ?
If not, what should change to make this allowable ?

And you should agree that having too many exporter variations would make things confusing for people trying to choose which to use.
- If you do release a version, be concise regarding the differences/changes in your version.. and/or send me the changes to add to the SVN trunk. Thx.

I can't remember. Is TGE required to compile them or is it just that the sources were included with TGE? (i.e. are they stand-alone?)

So it's easy to rebuild those. Exporters are not required, but possible to build separately.

If they are stand-alone (i.e., the developer does not need TGE to compile the exporter), then we are okay with them being posted as a resource.

The (regular)max2dts exporter requires some source files from TGE. I'm not so sure about the maya2dts, it has been some time since I touched that. [ So, if it has a few source files, is it ok ? ]

- small example:

I think TGE 1.5.2 is required, plus of course the SDK of whatever version of max /maya you wana compile against.

@Eric, perhaps a SVN patch to the original code would circumvent any licensing issues ??

I personally am all in favor of you sharing your work on the xporter (as we all know collda is still quite lacking !)

I remember a resource post and that it was slightly incomplete..then you mailed me the remaining files/changes/etc so I wasn't sure if that was still your intention to share all of it or not and I prefer to remain on the safe end. ;) ..appreciated!

Hewster, sure I can joke around with some of the best..but when it comes to business; I know that I am the tetchster! :P

posting here is ideal,
that way GG knows who has gained access, if it ever comes into question.
