dont know of any good books for the autodesk suite, but the included tutorials are pretty helpful to get started. once you have finished those, my teachers always told me to just model something you see every day.

the 3dsmax bible is a good one for a beginner as is the modeling for games book on Amazon.

Hi mijle2003,
I am also a big fan of Autodesk products and I am currently using Maya2012. Some of the best books I have read with step-by-step instruction on how to use the advance features of Autodesk are written by Dariush Derakhshani! I'm a huge fan of his work. Follow this link to see some of his books he has put out on Autodesk products:

Hope that helps you Mijle ;)

Always~

There are a lot of tutorials for 3DS Max on their youtube channel. I would recommend those, and also to just google 3ds max how to... Usually helps me solve my problem.

Hi mijle2003,

When I first started out I was asking the same quesstion. I picked up the 3DS Max bible, but it is absolutely overwhelming. The 3DS Max bible is better for reference. I would not recommend getting the book and trying to read it from start to finish.

1st, you will forget what you learned before you put it to practice.
2nd, the book explains the tools functions, but not best practices or workflows.

Personally, I recommend the Gnomon video series. They are created by industry professionals using industry workflows.

Sites such as www.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/sv_home.php have some excellent free tutorials. Give the alien head video a go and you'll learn how to box model in no time.

If you're looking for more videos, check out our video blog. We'll be adding a 3D training section there soon. logodesignwave.com/blog/

few titles id recomend

introducing autodesk 3ds max 2011 is the offical autodesk traning manual covers everythign from modeling to animation

3ds max modeling for games by andrew gahan starts with simple models then works you up to character modelign and full enviroments with game design kept in midn the whole time

Poly-modelign with 3ds max, thinkign outside the box by todd daniels, covers mostly high poly modeling techniques

3d game textures by luke ahearn while not for 3ds max it is a great book to read on texture creation for video games

I know these boosk are good because i myself have found them extrememly valuable, as for the other software products you have listed i dont any books for them but i do know that the digital tutors peopel have tutorials on jsut abotu everything.

I dont recomend the 3ds max bible books as they are simply filled with information you will never use

Also check out www.digitaltutors.com it is well worth the membership fee for the really great tutorials they offer
